We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Geometry to work with Professor Dominic Joyce on exciting new projects, in conjunction with the Simons Collaboration on Special Holonomy in Geometry, Analysis and Physics. The position is fixed-term for two years, and the post-holder will be based at the Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford.

The Simons Collaboration is an international network of leading experts in the field, with 14 principal investigators as well as many postdoctoral fellows and PhD students, which seeks to advance the theory and applications of spaces with special holonomy and related geometric structures. The post-holder will perform and manage their own mathematical research and administrative activities for projects in Algebraic or Differential Geometry and related activities, under the supervision of Professor Dominic Joyce, write up the results for publication either singly or with co-authors, and participate in the activities of the Geometry research group and the Simons Collaboration on Special Holonomy.

You will have, or be close to completing, a PhD in mathematics or a related discipline, and possess experience in one or more of the broad areas of Algebraic or Differential Geometry relevant to the Simons Collaboration and the research interests of Professor Joyce. These areas may include: Donaldson-Thomas type invariants of Calabi-Yau 3- and 4-folds; other enumerative invariants in algebraic geometry, and their wall-crossing formulae; geometric constructions of vertex algebras, and links to Geometric Representation Theory and String Theory; compact manifolds with the exceptional holonomy groups G2 and Spin(7); calibrated submanifolds of Calabi-Yau manifolds, G2- and Spin(7)-manifolds; and Lagrangian Mean Curvature Flow in Calabi-Yau manifolds.
