We are seeking applications for a 3 year Ph.D. position for a Masters student in mathematics to join our research group in motives,  motivic homotopy theory and aspects of enumerative geometry, in connection with the ERC research project “Quadratic refinements in algebraic geometry”. The position is scheduled to start Sept.  1, 2021; the start-date is flexible. This is a research position, no teaching is required.

We are looking for a highly qualified individual with background in algebraic geometry, especially Gromov-Witten theory and related fields, and/or homotopy theory, especially motivic homotopy theory. A Masters degree in an area of mathematics closely related to one or both of these fields, to be completed before beginning the position, will be required;  German language skills are not required.

You can find a description of some of our group's activities at https://www.esaga.uni-due.de/marc.levine/Courses/2020/
We are part of the Essen Seminar in Algebraic Geometry and Arithmetic (ESAGA). Please look at the webpage https://www.esaga.uni-due.de for an introduction.
