Responsibilities

Duties include research. Research associates may also pursue independent research and further academic qualifications.

Specific Duties

Mathematical analysis of machine learning methods within the research project LD-SODA (see https://www.math.uni-hamburg.de/home/iske/soda.html), in collaboration with scientists from the research areas statistics, optimization, dynamics, and approximation. Successful candidates are expected to analyze and further develop existing learning-based methods for mathematical data analysis with transfering the resulting algorithms into relevant applications.

Requirements

A university degree in a relevant subject plus doctorate.

Successful candidates are required to hold a PhD in Mathematics, with particular emphasis on one of the research areas learning-based data analysis, approximation theory, or mathematical statistics.
