Professor (W3) in Numerical Analysis

at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena. The position is available from October 1, 2018.

Candidates should be internationally recognized for research in numerical analysis. Possible areas of interest include high dimensional numerics, numerics of partial or stochastic partial differential equations, computational dynamics, and computational physics. Particular emphasis will be laid on the connection to analysis as well as to applied disciplines of mathematics and interdisciplinary research areas.

Teaching duties include numerical analysis and possibly analysis courses for Bachelor and Master students of all faculties and for mathematics teachers. An active participation in the Master program ‘Computational and Data Science’ is welcome. The successful candidate should also be willing to take on administrative tasks and to engage in service teaching for other disciplines.

A doctoral degree and a postdoctoral thesis (Habilitation) or equivalent scientific qualification, as well as teaching skills are required. The Friedrich Schiller University Jena encourages the hiring of female professors. Applications of women are particularly welcome.
