Department of Mathematics of the University of Zagreb invites applications for a full time PhD position within the framework of the project "Probabilistic and analytical aspects of generalised regular variation." The project is jointly funded by a grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation and Croatian Science Foundation.
The project is devoted to the theory of regular variation, random sets and extreme values under the direction of Prof. Bojan Basrak (University of Zagreb) and Prof. Ilya Molchanov (University of Bern).
The PhD position offers opportunity to work in a lively research environment and collaborate with international experts in the field. The starting date of the project can be adjusted to the candidate’s needs, but should not be later than July 2019.
The candidate is required to have a master degree (or equivalent) in mathematics. Preferably, the candidate should be familiar with the theory of probability and mathematical analysis. A good knowledge of English is mandatory.
