The Special Research program “Lipid Hydrolysis: Cellular lipid degradation pathways in health and disease” (SFB F73),
funded by the Austrian science Fund (FWF) unites seven research groups from the Medical University of Graz, the University of Graz and the Medical University of Vienna. This collaborative research program invites applications for a post-doctoral position in “Mathematical Modeling of Lipolysis and its Regulation” at the University of Graz, Austria.


The SFB Lipid Hydrolysis is an inter-disciplinary and multi-lab research center, which aims at a better understanding of
how intracellular lipid hydrolases affect lipid degradation pathways and metabolic health. In a joint effort with world-leading experts in lipolysis, the applicant is expected to derive mathematical models of lipase functions in vitro and in vivo. Further key tasks include kinetic parameter identification from empirical data and in silico optimal experimental design.


The applicant should hold a PhD in mathematics and is expected to have expertise in mathematical modeling, differential equations and/or parameter identification.

Applicants are asked to submit a curriculum vitae and pdf files of their PhD thesis and/or up to three relevant peer-reviewed publications. Additionally, application should include a motivation letter and names of at least two mentors/colleagues who could provide recommendation letters.
