Applications are invited for a

PhD position

(half-time) at the Chair of Nonlinear Analysis at the Institute for Mathematics at
the University of Augsburg, Germany (Prof. B. Schmidt) starting at 01.05.2019.


The initial appointment will be made for one year and can be extended to two more
years. It includes a teaching load of 2.5 hours per week during lecture time. The salary
is according to the German public service tariff scale E 13 TV-L (50%).


Applicants are expected to join the research activities at the Chair for Nonlinear Ana-
lysis and will be given the opportunity to write a PhD thesis.


Job requirements are a master’s degree in mathematics or physics and a good wor-
king knowledge in analysis, in particular in areas such as the calculus of variations,
partial differential equations, geometric measure theory, or mathematical continuum
mechanics.
