The Department of Mathematics at RWTH Aachen University

PhD position in "Numerical analysis of stochastic differential
equations and data assimilation" under the primary supervision of
Håkon Hoel, Junior Professor at the Chair of Mathematics for
Uncertainty Quantification (MATH4UQ).
We offer a research-oriented position at an international and
stimulating work environment with highly skilled colleagues at MATH4UQ.
The position is funded for up to 3 years on the salary scale TV-L at
75%, and it comes with a teaching load of 3 hours weekly during the
The task and duties of the position consist of mathematical modeling,
analysis and development of numerical methods for solving practically
relevant problems in data assimilation, molecular dynamics and
mathematical finance with uncertainties in the forward model and/or
the measurement data. It is also expected that you will attend and
present recent research findings at international conferences.
