Post-Doc/ Research assistant (m/f/d)

The research focus here is on methods for modeling and simulating the epidemic dynamics of COVID-19 at the micro- and macroscopic level by coupling agent-based methods with population-based differential equations. Finally, the methods and results of modeling and simulation of pandemic situations will be integrated into the knowledge base and AI-based decision support system.

The employment is part of the project "AI and COVID: Explainability and decision support by AI in pandemic situations" carried out together with the DEpartment of Computer Science in Koblenz. The project is part of the program "Strengthening Digitization at Universities" and is funded by the Ministry of Science, Further Education and Culture of Rhineland-Palatinate.

We expect:

  • a qualified PhD. in Mathematics or related fields,
  • profund experience in mathematics modeling of epidemiology using macroscopiuc differential equations and microscopic, agent-based stochastic simulations,
  • strong-interest in mixed-methods research and data-driven, KI-based systems,
  • creative thinking and ability to work in interdisciplinary teams.
  • very good knowledge of English, both written and spoken, knowledge of German is helpful but not strictly required.
