We are inviting applications for

2 postdoc positions at TU Wien, Austria

starting in October 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter. The appointment for the postdoc positions is limited to two years. The annual gross salary is approximately 55.000 Euro.

The successful candidates will join the research group of Prof. Ansgar Jüngel at the Institute for Analysis and Scientific Computing of the Vienna University of Technology, Austria. The research foci of the positions are as follows:

  * 1 postdoc: development and analysis of structure-preserving numerical schemes, e.g.
finite-volume methods, for diffusion systems, financed by the SFB Research Center
"Taming complexity in partial differential systems" (https://www.univie.ac.at/sfb65).

  * 1 postdoc: analysis and/or numerical approximation of diffusion
systems from cell biology (e.g. stochastic Nernst-Planck models, vasculogenesis models),
financed by the ERC Advanced Grant "Emerging network structures and neuromorphic
    applications" (https://www.asc.tuwien.ac.at/~juengel).

Successful candidates will benefit from the various activities of the Viennese community on partial differential equations, like the Vienna Center for PDEs (http://viennapde.tuwien.ac.at) and the Vienna School of Mathematics (https://www.vsmath.at). The positions do not involve any teaching obligations.

The Vienna University of Technology intends to increase the number of women on its faculty
