At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Mathematical Sciences one or more positions as Assistant Professor in Industrial Mathematics is open for appointment. As a part of a strategic focus on strengthening its collaborative multi-disciplinary research activities, the Department of Mathematical Sciences is looking for one or more talented and motivated researchers for the position of Assistant Professor in Industrial Mathematics. The position is available for a period of three years, and the appointment is expected to commence from January 1, 2022 or soon thereafter.
The candidates must have obtained a PhD degree in a field, which is relevant for industrial mathematics by the time of the appointment. All qualified candidates will be considered, but preference will be given to those who document research/education background in one or several areas including Scientific Computing, Mathematical Modelling, Partial Differential Equations, Finite Element/Isogeometric Analysis, or/and Optimization.
An interdisciplinary background is highly desirable. The ability to contribute to the development of external collaborations and to secure external funding will be taken into account. The applicants are expected to possess good interpersonal skills. Special contributions to the development of educational and teaching related activities will be considered in the overall assessment.
The preferred candidate(s) is/are expected to engage in acquiring external research funding for theoretical, applied, and strategic research activities. This will involve collaboration with colleagues within the Department of Mathematical Sciences and across departmental boundaries at Aalborg University.
The Department of Mathematical Sciences houses three education programs: Mathematics (including Statistics), Mathematics-Economics, and Mathematics-Technology. Furthermore, the department provides several other mathematical service courses for a variety of programs in Engineering and Social Sciences. Aalborg University is comprised of three campuses, Aalborg, Esbjerg, and Copenhagen, and teaching responsibilities may include courses at any of the three campuses. Teaching duties are primarily expected to be in the three mathematical programmes, but may also include other study programmes at the university as needed.

Appointment as an Assistant Professor presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment.
Appointment as an Assistant Professor cannot exceed a period of four years in total in a temporary position (appointment at Assistant Professor level cannot exceed a period of eight years in total in Denmark).

- Publications you wish to be considered by the assessment committee. You may attach up to 5 publications.
- A specification of your teaching qualifications relative to the teaching portfolio. If this is not enclosed you must include an explanation for its absence.
Shortlisting will be applied. This means that subsequent to the deadline for applications the head of department supported by the chair of the assessment committee will select candidates for assessment. All applicants will be informed whether they will be assessed or not.
