Institute for Mathematics and Scientific Computing is looking for a

Postdoc researcher for the FWF “Quasi-steady-state-approximation for PDE”

The project is funded by FWF in the framework of D-A-CH international projects. It is in collaboration with Prof. Christian Kuehn from the Technical University of Munich. The main aim of this project is to investigate the quasi-steady-state-approximation or fast reaction limits of PDEs by combining/merging functional-analytic techniques such as duality or entropy methods (carried out at the University of Graz) and techniques based upon geometric slow manifold reductions (carried out at the Technical University of Munich).

Your duties

  • Research in the area of analysis of partial differential equations with the emphasis on multiscale reaction-diffusion systems

  • Member of the applied analysis group

Your profile

  • Finished PhD in mathematics

  • Advanced expertise in the analysis of PDEs

  • Expertise in modelling and numerics of PDEs (desirable)

  • Adequate number of scientific publications in relation to CV

  • Very good command of English

  • High personal motivation towards scientific excellence

  • Ability to work in a team and social competence

  • Independent working style

We offer

  • 40 hours/week

  • The position lasts for 3 years

  • Salary is according to FWF personnel cost: 70.040 € annual (brutto)
