We are seeking a creative individual with independent scientific accomplishments and the ability to conduct research at a high international standard.
The ideal candidate should specialize in an area that complements the existing research activities in Algebra, Geometry, Topology, and Number Theory here in Mainz. Possible directions of specialization are, for example, arithmetic, algebraic and complex geometry, topology, homotopy theory or representation theory.
The successful candidate is expected to participate in current or future collaborative research projects at JGU, such as the CRC326: Geometry and Arithmetic of Uniformized Structures (https://crc326gaus.de/).
The professor is expected to teach courses in the field of pure mathematics, covering in particular the areas mentioned above. The successful candidate should demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and have the necessary language skills (English/German). An active involvement in academic self-administration is expected.
