We are seeking to hire two PhD students with interest in quantum information and mathematical optimization. The successful candidates will work closely with Felix Huber (https://huberfe.github.io/) at the Division of Quantum Computing of the University of Gdańsk.
Possible research topics are:
- approximation algorithms in quantum information theory
- symmetry- and size reduction of polynomial optimization problems
- characterization of quantum codes and quantum capacities
- characterization of quantum correlations, entanglement, nonlocality
- machine learning for optimization problems
Candidates should have a MSc in Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science. The ideal candidate took courses on quantum information and computation, mathematical programming, combinatorial optimization, or coding theory. Programming experience (Python/Julia, Sage, GAP, semidefinite programming) is a plus.
The positions are offered for 4 years, with a stipend of approx. 5000 PLN net + 3466 PLN gross (5000 PLN net + 5340 PLN gross after successful midterm evaluation) and travel funding. The positions includes Polish social security coverage, including health insurance.
