The Chair of Econometrics and Statistics at the Technische Universität Dortmund seeks candidates for a

Research Assistant in Econometrics and Statistics

to begin as soon as possible. The duration of the contract for this 75% position is one year initially with the option of extension. The salary scale is according to TV-L (or TVÜ-L) Entgeltgruppe 13. The possibility of scientific qualification, i.e. obtaining a PhD, is given.

Our faculty is the unique autonomous Faculty of Statistics in the German-speaking countries, offering a versatile and cooperative research environment. The Chair of Econometrics and Statistics is embedded in the local research area (e.g. Ruhr Graduate School of Economics, cooperation in research and teaching with the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences of TU Dortmund, member of the collaborative research center SFB823). Our research focus is primarily methodological and applied research in time series econometrics and empirical economic research.


We seek candidates that hold (or expect to complete in the near future) a university degree in mathematics, statistics, econometrics, economics, physics, engineering or related studies with a strong background in mathematics of at least 8 semesters. Successful candidates are expected to further develop statistic and econometric methods, with a focus on the research areas of the group; and/or to apply the developed methods innovatively. Applicants are expected to have affinity to innovative teaching and to have good knowledge of relevant software environments (e.g., Matlab or R).


The tasks of successful candidates comprise research with the possibility of scientific qualification (i.e. obtaining a PhD), adequate involvement in teaching (3 SWS) and support in the administrative tasks of the research group.
