We are inviting applications for PhD Positions in Mathematics at Catholic University Eichstaett-Ingolstadt. The positions are available starting as early as April 2017 but can be filled at a later time as well. Duration is 3 years, extensions are possible.

Applications will be screened starting February 23rd, but the call remains open until all positions are filled, that is, late applications are welcome! At least one position requires the ability to teach mathematics in German (or the willingness to acquire the necessary fluency in German as soon as possible upon arrival) Third party funded positions do not require knowledge of German, our international scientific group has members from 3 continents and all scientific discussions are carried out in English.

Applicants should have some experience in applied and computational mathematics, harmonic analysis, or functional analysis. Current members of our group work on compressive sensing / time-frequency analysis / wavelets / sampling theory / operator theory / pseudodifferential operators / phase retrieval / estimation of covariance matrices and many related subjects. Electrical engineers with experience in signal or image processing and with a strong mathematics background will be considered for all postions.

We offer a stimulating environment and collaborate with Engineers and Mathematicians, in particular at the close by universities in Munich. Collaborations with industry, for example, the automotive industry are in the making. Our group is currently moving from Philipps University Marburg to KU Eichstaett-Ingolstadt, it would be great if you can help us building a strong presence in application oriented mathematics at our new home!

Please send an application letter, your CV, your MSc Thesis (or similar work), and 2 names of colleagues that may be willing to write a recommendation. Additional material may be requested in addition.
