The position is based in the Geometry/Optimization research group within the Department of Mathematics. The successful candidate is expected to establish a research and teaching focus in optimization. The Department is looking for a candidate with an internationally recognised research profile in the field of mathematical optimization, e.g. in the areas of polyhedral optimization and discrete geometry, optimization in connection with convex analysis and its theoretical or algorithmic foundations, or in other research areas at the interface between optimization, geometry and/or convexity. Academic links to the department’s existing research areas are desirable. In terms of teaching, the successful candidate is expected to hold courses in German on optimization and related mathematical fields for students of mathematics and other degree programmes.
