The Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at Heidelberg University invites applications for a
Full Professorship (W3) for ‘Pure Mathematics’ (f/m/d)
at the Institute for Mathematics starting Winter semester 2027/28.
We are seeking an internationally outstanding scientist (f/m/d) whose research focus lies in a modern direction of algebraic geometry taking into consideration its ties to neighbouring areas. The appointment aims to strengthen and extend the existing research spectrum at the Institute for Mathematics.
Candidates shall be capable of actively contributing to existing research collaborations – such as the CRC/TRR 326 – as well as to new cooperative initiatives, and of assuming a visible role in acquiring third-party funding. The position offers the excellent and active scientific environment of a University of Excellence, along with resources and support appropriate to the profile of the position. Participation in academic self-governance and contributions to teaching – including courses from the core mathematics curriculum – are required.
Prerequisites for an application are (in accordance with Article 47, Paragraph 1 of the Higher Education Law of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg) a university degree, an outstanding doctorate, successful teaching experience and (in accordance with Article 47, Paragraph 2 of the Higher Education Law of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg) a habilitation, a successfully evaluated junior professorship, or equivalent qualifications.

Gesucht wird eine international herausragende Forscherpersönlichkeit (w/m/d) mit Forschungsschwerpunkten in einer modernen Ausrichtung der algebraischen Geometrie unter Berücksichtigung ihrer Anbindungen an benachbarte Gebiete. Mit der Besetzung der Stelle soll das bestehende Forschungsspektrum am Institut für Mathematik geschärft und erweitert werden.
Die Kandidatinnen und Kandidaten sollen in der Lage sein, sich an bestehenden Forschungsverbünden wie dem SFB/TRR 326, sowie an neuen Kooperationen aktiv zu beteiligen und eine sichtbare Rolle bei der Einwerbung von Drittmitteln zu übernehmen. Geboten wird das hervorragende aktive wissenschaftliche Umfeld einer Exzellenzuniversität und eine dem Profil der Stelle angemessene Ausstattung. Eine Beteiligung an der akademischen Selbstverwaltung, sowie Beiträge in der Lehre einschließlich der mathematischen Grundausbildung, werden vorausgesetzt.
