At TU Dortmund University, a position for a scientific employee (m/f/d) is available at the Faculty of Mathematics in the field of Numerical Analysis for PDEs starting at the earliest possible date for a period of three years. This position allows for research towards a dissertation at the Faculty of Mathematics.

According to public tariff regulations, the salary is based on tariff group E13 TV-L with 75% of the regular work time. An increase to 100 % within the employment period is possible.

The position is in the field of numerics for partial differential equations. In particular, we expect the willingness of the applicant to participate in research projects in the area of ​​a posteriori error estimators, analysis of adaptive methods and development of structure-preserving finite element methods.

In addition, the position involves the preparation and conduction of courses (3 hours/week) as well as the supervision of students.

Candidates should fulfill the following requirements:

  • Excellent Master-level university degree in mathematics, technomathematics or a closely related discipline
  • Good knowledge of Finite Element Methods and Partial Differential Equations
  • Knowledge of the implementation of numerical methods 
  • Interest in further scientific training in the field of numerics and analysis of partial differential equations
