Junior Professor in “Optimization and Uncertainty in Mobility

(W1 with Tenure Track W2)

funded by theTenure Track Programme of the German Federal Government and the Federal States (”WISNA”) to start as soon as possible.

Carl-Friedrich-Gauß-Fakultät is looking for an excellent junior researcher who actively represent a field of research preferably in optimization using reduced models, optimization under uncertainty, or robust optimization.

Candidates that show high potential for strengthening and enhancing the research profile of the Institute for Mathematical Optimization in the areas of nonlinear optimization, optimal control, and combinatorial optimization and actively contributes to the research fields of focus of TU Braunschweig are sought for, and research interests relating to other institutes of the Department of Mathematics are desired. Moreover, open-mindedness towards cooperation with applied sciences in the Excellence Cluster SE2A and further coordinated research efforts supporting the broad topic of mobility at TU Braunschweig are expected. First activities towards acquiring third-party funding are necessary.

The Department of Mathematics currently establishes an initiative “Mathematics in Data Science” and offers, in this context, numerous possibilities for cooperating with institutes in computer science, engineering, and economics. We expect the future junior professor to actively participate in the research and teaching activities of the department.

The junior professor’s initial appointment at the level W1 is limited to 3 years. The appointment will be extended by 3 more years, provided the evaluation after 3 years is positive. In accordance with the tenure track statues of TU Braunschweig, the appointment will be tenured at the level W2 after a positive final evaluation. The formal requirements can be found in § 30 of the NHG (Niedersächsisches Hochschulgesetz / University Act of Lower Saxony).
